Know before you connect.
Clear answers about compatibility, setup and phone mirroring.
Will CarLync work with my car?
If the original factory screen launches CarPlay when an iPhone is connected through the USB data port, it is likely compatible. BMW, Tesla, some Chinese EVs and vehicles without factory wired CarPlay are not supported.
Does this add CarPlay to a car that has none?
No. CarLync requires factory wired CarPlay and does not install CarPlay into an unsupported head unit.
Does this model have built-in apps or Google Play?
No. The Q1A provides wireless CarPlay, wireless Android Auto, AirPlay and Miracast. It mirrors a compatible phone and does not run an onboard app store.
Can I use screen mirroring while driving?
No. Screen mirroring is intended only while safely parked. Use CarPlay or Android Auto while driving and always follow local road rules.
Do my touchscreen and steering-wheel controls still work?
Where supported by the existing infotainment system, CarLync retains the factory touchscreen, microphone, voice assistant and steering-wheel controls.
How long does setup take?
Plug the adapter into the wired CarPlay USB data port, then pair Bluetooth and enable Wi-Fi on your phone. Initialisation and pairing time varies by car and phone.
Can the firmware be updated?
Yes. The Q1A supports OTA updates for connection problems. Connect your phone to the adapter’s SmartBox Wi-Fi, open 192.168.1.101 in a browser and follow the update screen. Keep the adapter powered throughout the update.
Why might a video app show a black screen?
Some services block screen mirroring for copyright protection. AirPlay or Miracast connectivity does not guarantee that protected video content will play.
Upgrade four ways.
Plug in once.
